Icing on the cake...

    I can count the times I've worn makeup on one hand. Most people don't care about it. Why should they? It's my face after all. Naturally I was dumbfounded when a close relative confronted me about my face.

    One day when I was at a relatives house she pulled me aside and asked to talk to me. I was concerned that something serious was wrong. She said that she was "worried I was not normal because I did not show interest in makeup and dresses". As I stared at her with my jaw dropping more by the second she compared me to a cake. "Cake tastes good plain, but even the best cake needs a little frosting."

     Did she just compare me to a cake? A cake that needs frosting? What the f*** just happened?  I had no clue how to handle this situation so I walked away and stayed in the bathroom for a few minutes. I didn't and still don't understand why this  happened. 

     I won't lie though for a while it bugged me. It made me second guess myself.  Comments can hurt, and when they come from people you are close to they seem to hurt a little more. Be careful with your words. Thank goodness I can laugh about the ridiculousness of this now. I hate to disappoint everyone but I'm a human not a cake; and I plan on staying that way.

Edventure Girl

I have been reading Edventure Girl for a few years. Hannah is pretty cool. I love how her blog shows that even though she is a world traveler she is just a normal teenage girl. She world schools. I know a few of you may be saying world schooling? What's that? It's a nomadic version of homeschooling. Could you handle traveling the world with your family? I don't know if my family could do it. I first found out about Edventure Girl when my mom sent me the link. She had just posted about elephant riding in Thailand. I had just started homeschooling and mom was trying to show me that there were several very cool people around the world who homeschooled. Yes, even I had reservations about homeschooling once upon a time. There are many types of homeschooling and I think Hannah's family has a good idea. I love this post she wrote. You may have noticed quite a few changes on Awesome Anna. I really like how it is turning out. I owe it all to my best friend Bryleigh. Yes, on top of being there for me 24/7 she also is helping redesign my whole blog. From fonts to color schemes you will see changes. That is how amazing she is. She is also a good writer. Deaf and Hard of Hearing Roller Derby Skaters Worldwide

So I got a package the other day. It was from Deaf and Hard of Hearing Roller Derby Skaters Worldwide! They sent me a shirt signed by meat train! In case you don't know... Meat train is a deaf roller derby player from New Zealand. She is pretty awesome. I respect her so much. She made it to the roller derby World Cup. The World Cup was in Dallas this year by the way. She got a bunch of other really awesome people to sign the shirt too. But I really respect all the work she has put in to get where she is. It's not easy. Not in the least. So a big thanks to Meat Train and Deaf and Hard of Hearing roller derby skaters worldwide!
